Cairo Pavilion By Bishoy Ghatas
Public Design
2025
Inspired by Cairo's traditional pigeon towers, the project introduces an elevated pavilion that creates a peaceful retreat while supporting a more pedestrian-friendly downtown. The design preserves pedestrian circulation and access to surrounding businesses, combines natural and built shading for comfort, and incorporates bird shelters as a tribute to Cairo's pigeon culture and urban heritage.
Sakina By Jude Shoukry
Public Design
2026
Located in the dense commercial fabric of Al-Shawarbi Street, Sakina transforms neglected granite benches and an existing tree into a sheltered urban retreat. A semi-spherical terracotta structure creates a quiet space for rest and social interaction, while integrated motorcycle parking, a water-cooler shelf, and exterior seating keep the intervention connected to the street, reclaiming an overlooked corner of Downtown Cairo.
Interactive Street Library
By Lina Shawky
Public Design
2026
This project encourages reading and informal social interaction through a series of spaces that offer varying levels of privacy while remaining visually connected to the surrounding street.
Inspired by traditional Arabic patterns, the structure strengthens the project's cultural identity while creating a dynamic interplay of light, shade, and enclosure.
